Luis Adria'n Berlanga Graza
First Team All-American Kicker

Senior placekicker Luis Berlanga has provided Northwest with a successful kicking game. He was named First Team All-American kicker for Division 2 (2nd Team All-American by Don Hansen), and holds the record for 74 consecutive PATs. In his Cat debut against Minnesota State, Moorhead, Berlanga booted 11 Point After Attempts (PATs) to set a then-MIAA record for most in a single game and tied a then-league mark with 11 attempts. In addition, he showed off his strong leg booting six of his 11 kick-offs for a touchback. He is expected to be picked in the 2005 NFL Draft.

For that performance, he was recognized as the Wilson@/Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) Football Special Teams Player of the Week (Aug. 31) and the D2Football.com Pizza Hut Special Teams Player of the Week. Berlanga went seven-for-seven on PAT attempts and hit field goals of 36 and 37 yards in the 55-19 Northwest win at Missouri Southern, Oct. 9. For that effort, Berlanga nabbed his second career MIAA Special Teams Player of the Week. The senior from Monterrey, Mex. connected on 74-of-76 PAT's this season, including 16 of 19 on FGs, with two FGs from 51 yards. He holds the most points by a kicker in a single season in Northwest history with 122, and his 76 PAT attempts is a school single-season record. In the nation, Berlanga is 18th in scoring with 10.3 points per game and 17th in field goals per game (1.1). He also played in the 2004 Cactus Bowl.

Luis is the best field goal kicker in Mexican history. Luis is a hero in his country. Luis played in the Aztec Bowl & Mexico All-Stars vs Div III All Stars game. He is so good, NFL and Arena teams have invited him to leave college early. He refused because he wants to come to the US and play for a major Division 1 College.

Stats:
Extra Points: 56 for 56
Field Goals: 23 for 25
Longs: 68,58,54,55,56,50

All his kickoffs from the 35 go to the back of the end zone or through the goal post.
