2003 - Sievers signed with the Houston Texans as a rookie free agent on May 5 but was released at the end of camp.

Sievers left the University of Miami second on the school's career scoring list with 310 points. He was a two-time, First-Team All Big East selection (2001 and 2002) and was the finalist for the 2002 Mosi Tatupu Award, honoring the top special teams player in college football. He converted 32-of-39 career field goal attempts inside 40 yards. As a senior, he was 13-of-22 on field goal attempts and 66-of-69 on PATs. His 105 points ranked fifth in Miami single-season history. He connected on 11-of-17 field goal attempts and led the team with 85 points as a sophomore. He redshirted after his true freshman season. As a true freshman, Sievers handled the bulk of the Hurricanes kickoff duties, seeing action in 11 games.

Sievers tallied 160 points through his prep career at Ankeny (IA) High School. He was the Iowa Football Coaches Association Class 4A Player of the Year and USA Today honorable All-America selection as a senior. He was the only high school player ever selected to the All-Madden team and was inducted into his high school's Hall of Fame. Sievers set an Iowa state record with a 63-yard field goal and for the most points by a kicker (77). He converted the deciding field goal in the Class 4A title win.
